Marmore Waterfalls rafting in Umbria

Visiting the waterfalls is a major experience; for rafting lovers it is an occasion.

There is a legend concerning the origin of the waterfalls: a nymph by the name of Nera fell in love with a handsome shepherd, Velino. However, Giunone jealous of this love transformed Nera into a river. In order not to lose his loved one, he threw himself off the Marmore cliffs. This leap to be repeated for eternity is now reproduced in the Marmore Waterfalls. Immediately below the first waterfall there is the Lovers Balcony (“Balcone degli Innamorati”), so-called because only a madman or lover would look over from that balcony while the Waterfalls are on. From here there is a magnificent view if one does not mind being soaked by the spray.

A trip not to be missed is to Lake Bolsena which boasts an almost completely unpolluted natural ambient and is one of the few large Italian lakes where one can swim anywhere. Excursions of 2 – 8 hours Tel +39 0761 834 030 Mobile 338 8466869

Dunaroba Fossil Forest

consists of fossiled trees belonging to a species of giant oak found in Italy over one million years ago. The reason why this forest is so special is that the trees have been fossilized in a vertical and not horizontal position as in other fossil forests and they have survived in this state until today; this in itself is very rare. The fossils are of a formidable dimension: 1.5m in diameter and between 5 and 10 metres in height. The price of a ticket includes a guided visit within the Fossil Forest.
